Coast House

When we were looking for a house in Seadrift we really wanted something that we could update/renovate, etc to make our own. We are huge DIYers and love to make things "Morris-fied". The house we ended up purchasing had already been updated but not quite to our standards. We weren't into the honey colored cabinets, doors and "outdated" yet new fixtures. So, after a week of fun and lots of paint we have made great headway to making the yellow house on the water the Morris Coastal Casa! Here are a few before and afters....it is still a work in progress but we love spending weekends down there so much that I was sad this past Friday when we had to stay in town!

In addition to the basics we are also building furniture! Brad has as many tools as Home Depot so we are really able to create exactly what we envision!

One of my little creations is the shutter headboard for the master bedroom. I will save that for another post as when we go back down in a few weeks I have some additions I am wanting to make for it!

This is the view from the front deck. There are empty lots in front of us that the people have sworn to never sell, but if they do I know a buyer :)

...and of course, Brad's big bad truck and boat now have room to park!

I couldn't help but put a picture of Lady enjoying the coastal night on the deck. She loves her some salt breeze!

This is the only picture I have of the downstairs bedroom. I will take more next  time. We now have a bed and some other furnishings down here. In the Spring we are going to convert this large area to a sitting area with small kitchen, bedroom and bathroom.

Here is a picture of the bar area - we painted all the walls a turquoise color and changed the cabinet color to white.
Here is another picture of kitchen area - we haven't quite decided on the backsplash yet...I am pushing for blue and white glass tiles! What do you think?

Here is another view of the kitchen - I absolutely love the white cabinets!
Below is a before and after of the master bathroom cabinets. Walls went from stark white to beige and again the white cabinets. So much better!

Here is the guest bathroom - goodbye old people vanity hello modern loveliness!

Also....goodbye horrible tile, yuck!!! In comes the pretty wood flooring!

Oh - and of course turquoise walls.

Here are some pictures of the living room (still a work in progress, but much better).

Brad is working on building a side table...then I am planning on staining and painting yellow, then distressing.
I love the swordfish he bought in Rockport - it is a smaller less impressive of the one he mounted in his office in San Antonio.

Brad built the TV stand! Impressive that husby is! He still has to build the doors and then we are planning on painting it white.

Below is the sunroom - painted but that's about it. We move all of our deck chairs inside before we leave. I have so many wonderful ideas for this space! I envision a space for a modern desk and easel for painting, a comfortable chair for reading....the list could go on and on.

and of course here are the supermodel puppies!
Lady lounging on the deck stairs watching me work.

Shelby helping Brad and Uncle Adam move things in (before any renovations started - note the horribly ugly stained wood outlet cover and trim...wow!)
