Weekend Update

Hello friends.
I wish I could say happy Monday but my mood is still so somber after the Sandy Hook shooting that occurred last week. My heart is aching for all of the families of those that lost loved ones.

I also was planning on apologizing today for being so absent in blogland. My life has been so busy and hectic, in a good way, and unfortunately my blog has been put on the back burner. I should have more time now and hope to get back into the swing of things here. I have missed you all!

Tomorrow several of my blog friends are taking a day of silence and posting the following button and nothing else. Please feel free to do the same if you would like.
On Tuesday, December 18th, there will be a blogger day of silence. We will post the button and that's it. Please try to not post anything else that day if possible.

We are also raising money that will go to an organization in the memory of this tragedy. The organization is called The Newtown Family Youth and Family Services. Here is the official description of the support service we are donating to:

"Newtown Youth and Family Services, Inc. is a licensed, non-profit, mental health clinic and youth services bureau dedicated to helping children and families achieve their highest potential. NYFS provides programs, services, activities, counseling, support groups and education throughout the Greater Newtown area.

ANY DONATIONS MADE TO NEWTOWN YOUTH AND FAMILY SERVICES WILL BE DONATED DIRECTLY TO THOSE EFFECTED BY THE SANDY HOOK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SHOOTING.

Please visit THIS PAGE to make your donation.

We can't imagine how they must be feeling, especially this close to the holidays. We would love for you to spread the word on your own blog, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Let's make a difference and use our blogging voices to spread love, hope and our prayers to all those who were directly effected from this tragedy. Thank you in advance for participating and God bless.

Love,
The Blog World

This weekend, as I said before was very quiet and I did not do much at all. It was nice. We did have my office Christmas party which was fun and I wrapped our Christmas gifts.

Saturday morning I made breakfast for my husband's office. I wanted to give them a small treat for all working on the weekend. It was a huge hit and I will post the recipe this week. Here is a sneak peek at the Honey Butter biscuit sandwhich.

Later that day I was frustrated when my steamcleaner wouldn't work. I am slightly obsessed with keeping a clean home and actually love to steamclean my carpets. I know, I'm strange! So, after a little meltdown Brad said we would go get a new one Sunday.
Here she is! New & clean! She worked great!

Brad & I spent the whole day together Sunday and had such a good time! We finished the Christmas shopping, had a yummy lunch, made our first trip to Whole Foods (I know, you are all gasping - but we finally have one that is close to our home),  and watched a little football. He works so much so days like Sunday mean even more!

I hope you all have a good Monday. Can you believe that Christmas Eve is next week? Where has this year gone?

I love the way my carpets look after I've really cleaned then, but unfortunately within 30 minutes of it, they are a disaster again. Stinking kids. Haha! And I don't even want to think about it. It seriously was just New Year's!!

Thanks Andrea. I will be passing on the message through my blog as well. Right now it just makes everything we blog about seem so trivial. My heart is breaking - Brandy

Welcome back. :) Did you just love Whole Foods? Ours has a wine tasting every Friday night for super cheap. If yours does you should definitely try it out. We love it!

You crack me up, that sounds awfully familiar;) I spend last Friday and Saturday on the floor in my kitchen scrubbing grout--and I really didn't mind it, I was so happy with how clean it was when I was done:) And yay for quality time with the hubs.

Sandy Hook just breaks my heart. Hard to get those images out of my mind, and I have to fight back tears when I see the flags at half mast. Heartbreaking..
